June 22

We were going to get up early and be at the Alaska Sealife Center when it opened at 8, but didn’t make it until 10.  They have a great aquarium with lots of local wildlife on display.  We especially enjoyed a tank full of seabirds, which had two viewing levels, one above and one below the surface of the water.  It was great fun to watch the puffins and cormorants “fly” underwater.

We left Seward at 1 and drove to Anchorage, stopping at Bird Point along Turnagin Arm to cook and eat a frozen pizza.  We were going to walk around to see if we could see any whales, but it was windy and cold.  Instead we drove on in to Anchorage, took Mom by the Ulu Factory to buy gifts, while Lana and I walked up to The Alaska Mint to buy some stuff for Lana’s dad.

Then we refueled and dumped the RV, and headed back to Great Alaskan Holidays.  We arrived there about 6:30, checked the RV in, and then settled in for another night in the parking lot.  Since our flight out in the morning was before they opened, they let us spend the night there instead of having to find a hotel.  Good people.
