Today we would all be heading back to Panama City, but not necessarily together.  I was riding back, Bill would be loading the RT in a trailer and driving back, and Marc and Jamie would be trailering their bikes behind Jamie’s RV.

Bill and I decided to have breakfast together at Dannys in Dahlonega, and he pulled out first, since he would be taking it slow down the mountain.  Marc and Jamie wanted to have breakfast at TWO, so we said goodbye to them early on.  I checked out as soon as the lodge opened (7?  8?  I don’t remember), and buzzed down the mountain in the cool morning air.  The road was pretty empty, but I did meet one guy on a motard, in full leathers, dragging a knee, headed uphill for a day of Sunday fun.

Breakfast at Dannys was excellent, as always.  Bill got on the road before I did, but somewhere I got ahead of him (maybe I passed him in Atlanta traffic), because he pulled up behind me in Eufala.

I had to pull off for a bathroom break right after that, but shortly after I got back on the road, I came up behind Marc and Jamie.

They stayed with me till Dothan, where I lost them, but found Bill again at a gas station in Cottondale.  We all ended up coming back in to Panama City at the same time, even though we had all left at different times.  When I turned off to my house, the RV was two cars ahead of me, and Bill was 3 cars behind.

A few days after I got home, I was adjusting the chain on the bike, and found this.

I have no idea how long it had been there.  Sure am glad that tire didn't give out on me at highway speeds!

I put 2,103 miles on the bike this trip.
