Today Mom went home. I was up at 5 to meet her at 6 for her trip to the airport. I was feeling a bit stuffy today, so bought some grapefruit juice to drink on the 15 minute walk to the Hyatt. Mom was downstairs, packed and ready, and the cab ride to the airport took about 20 minutes…we took cabs since the hotel shuttles didn’t start running till about 8:30. I couldn’t go beyond the ticket counter, so we said goodbye there and I was back at the hotel by about 6:30. Lana had not slept well that night, so I climbed back into bed and we snoozed till about 9. Then we took a walk around Stanley Park and had lunch at “The Lift”…great food.

We took a 1:30 “Mountains and Vistas” tour with Grayline Tours, on a big motor-coach with a driver that reminded us of John Candy. The 5.5 hour tour took us the Capilano Suspension Bridge, a fish hatchery, and Grouse Mountain, the local ski hill that runs it’s gondola in the summer for tourists. They have a couple of grizzly bears, some wolves (which we did not see), a big-screen theater, and some other stuff to see.

At the end of the day, I was feeling draggy, since I had been stuffed up all day, but took an Actifed and started to feel better. We asked the concierge if there was a drugstore close by, and he gave us directions to one, plus a dinner recommendation. His directions were a bit off, but we found the drugstore, and then went to the restaurant. It was almost empty, which we took as a bad sign, so we walked a bit further to Steamworks, which we liked last year. Fish and chips for both of us. The fish was halibut and they fried it in beer batter…a hard combination to beat. After dinner we walked back to the hotel and watched two episodes of Seinfeld before bed.
