I felt 100% better this morning. My fever broke about 11PM last night, I got a good night's sleep, and I was ready to roll today.
On the other hand, our fantastic weather petered out. Overnight; rain moved in, and by the time we were ready to get out, it was dizzily and cool. Our plan had been to get on the hop on hop off bus and tour around the city, but with the turn in the weather, we decided that might not be the best idea. The girls are always happy if they are shopping, so we took a cab to Granville Island, a collection of shops and galleries that Lana and I had enjoyed on previous visits. Most of the day was spent there, just browsing.
Our last dinner in Vancouver was at Cardeos, at the end of Cardeo street, right on the water and the marina. The rain had moved off by the time we got there, so we sat on the deck under the gas heaters (it was pretty chilly). The service and food were excellent, and the waiter, Chris, was very funny. We each had fish…tuna, salmon, halibut, and cod. We all passed sample of our dinners around to each other, but couldn’t decide who’s was best. |
We were about halfway thru dinner when two men sat down at the table next to us. One was an Aussie, the other a Canuk, and they had just met a few days ago on the Trans-Canada train. As the evening progressed, we struck up a conversation, and finally they pulled their table over to ours, and talked and laughed until we were the last people there. The Aussie, John, was amazingly funny, and we all had a great time. The staff finally turned off the heaters so that we would leave!
Back at the hotel around midnight. Tomorrow would be an early morning.
